Stockade

Variation of: Crucifix

The stockade is an inverted nelson hold achieved by looping your arm behind your opponent's head while controlling their arm. It is characterized by being chest-to-back with the opponent, positioned perpendicularly behind them while controlling both arms—one with your legs and one with your arms. Unlike the traditional crucifix where you're lying behind your opponent, the stockade is typically executed from a top position (often called the "pirate's crucifix" or "side control crucifix"), where you're up on your knees and turned away from your opponent, allowing you to apply severe pressure on the neck. The position resembles a medieval stockade punishment device, hence the name—the opponent's head and arm(s) are trapped while their movement is severely restricted.
