Williams Guard

Variation of: Closed Guard

A closed-guard-derived control position developed by Shawn Williams (also called the Shoulder Pin Guard), popularized by John Danaher and Neil Melanson. The bottom player traps one of the top player's arms with an overhook and pins the shoulder/head with a frame, breaking posture without the flexibility demands of rubber guard. Sets up triangle, armbar, omoplata, and kimura attacks.
