- BJJ: Reverse Omoplata
Description
A shoulder-lock variation reached from the Side Triangle stage of the High Ground system rather than from closed guard. Instead of the classic omoplata entry (opponent's arm trapped between the legs from the bottom, hips escaping out), the attacker is on top/behind in a crucifix-derived control, threads the trapped arm through a reversed leg configuration, and rotates the shoulder against the joint from that reversed angle — hence "reverse." Reached as a branch point alongside the standard Crucifix finish once Side Triangle control is secured.
Common Applications
Named and sequenced in BJJ Blueprints' "High Ground System Part 1" breakdown ("Side triangle to crucifix/reverse omoplata"), part of the High Ground no-gi system popularized by Jay Rod (B-Team) and Jon Wilson (Wilson Bros. Grappling).

Confidence note: the mechanics description is inferred from standard Omoplata mechanics plus the reversed body orientation named in the source breakdown, not yet confirmed frame-by-frame against video — recommend SME review before treating the mechanics detail as final.
