Description
A face-crush strangle popularized by UFC veteran, EBI Champion, and ADCC finalist Vagner Rocha, sometimes called the "Vagner Choke" or "Crush Your Face Choke." Applied most notably from mount, the attacker drives a forearm or shin across the opponent's face, using the resulting pressure and frame to cut off blood flow through both carotid arteries simultaneously. It reads as an unorthodox, almost bullying attack, but practitioners who have studied it note it still follows sound strangle principles — full occlusion of both arteries — rather than relying purely on discomfort. It appears as a listed technique in Rocha's "Hybrid Jiu-Jitsu: MMA Inspired Techniques" instructional (BJJ Fanatics), positioned as a finish reachable from mount after a triangle/armlock sequence out of closed guard.
Common Applications
Finished from mount after passing or scrambling into top position; also shown as a finishing option following failed triangle or shoulder-lock attempts from closed guard that transition to mount.
