Description

A positional escape from mount that focuses on recovering a functional guard position rather than creating maximum separation. The defender uses framing (typically on the opponent's hips or legs) to create space and then shrimps or bridges to tip the opponent's balance sideways. As the mounted opponent is displaced, the defender plants their feet and uses their legs to create a guard frame—either re-establishing closed guard or transitioning to open guard variations (hook guard, collar-sleeve guard, or de la Riva). The key is timing the leg placement to trap one or both of the opponent's legs as they attempt to remount. This escape is lower-energy than full separation escapes and focuses on restoring defensive positioning and control.
