Description
The core sweep from octopus guard, functionally a sit-up sweep with superior leverage since the opponent's posture and base are already broken by the octopus grip. Gripping over the opponent's far torso/lat, the bottom player lifts the hips and drives into the same direction as the grip, finishing in mount. If the top player posts an arm to block, the bottom player hip-escapes to open the opposite angle and repeats the same motion the other way.
Common Applications
Used as soon as octopus guard is secured, since the grip has already broken the opponent's posture, making it a near-automatic follow-up rather than a separate setup. Commonly chained with a hip bump sweep variation if the sit-up direction is blocked, and can be redirected into a truck/twister entry by finishing in twister side control instead of mount.
