Saddle

Variation of: Open Guard

A dominant control position in leg lock systems where the attacking player sits on top of the opponent's knee while maintaining control of their leg. The attacker's hips are positioned over the opponent's knee with their legs controlling both of the opponent's legs from above. This position provides exceptional leverage for heel hooks, knee bars, and other dangerous leg lock submissions. The saddle creates a mechanically sound base that restricts the opponent's ability to escape, rotate, or defend against leg lock attacks. Commonly used in SAMBO and modern leglock-focused BJJ systems.
