Description

A turtle-position reversal developed by Eduardo Telles, used when the top player has locked in seatbelt control or is attacking a choke (e.g. a clock choke) from the back. Rather than fighting to prevent the opponent's arm control, the bottom player controls the opponent's forearm close to their own body, then drops their weight to one side leading with the shoulder, bringing the opponent's arm down with them. From there they use their legs to lift and rotate their hips up and to that side (grabbing the opponent's knee to assist), rolling the opponent over and coming up on top, transitioning grip from the arm to the pants to stabilize side control.

Common Applications

Telles's primary answer to being turtled up with a seatbelt or choke threat, used from bottom turtle generally and specifically to escape bottom side control when caught there. Has variations for defending against the choke or a kimura attempt mid-roll, and combines with leg-trap/dogfight entries if the opponent bases out or posts a foot to stop the initial roll.
