Description

Applied against an opponent in turtle position by securing a deep collar grip and circling around their head (like the hands of a clock) to create pressure. The attacking arm wraps around the neck while driving the opponent's head toward their shoulder, using their own defensive position against them.

Common Applications

If the opponent fights the circling collar grip and turns further into you, their near arm can get trapped in the process — that's the entry into kata-ha-jime as a follow-up finish.
