Description

A versatile finish/off-balancing tool from the Single Leg. From a secured single leg (often on the knees), the attacker uses the cut back to off-balance the opponent, either to complete the takedown finish directly, to create space to stand up and improve base, or to transition into a Double Leg Takedown by gaining access to the opponent's second leg. Emphasized in John Danaher's wrestling-for-grappling instruction as a foundational way to manage an opponent's body weight from this position.

Common Applications

Multi-purpose tool from Single Leg: finishing the takedown, building a stronger base when overwhelmed by the opponent's weight, or transitioning to a Double Leg; also referenced as the defensive counter that Victor's Roll variations are sometimes built from.
