Single Leg

Variation of: Standing

The held, contested moment after a single leg shot lands — one attacker has secured control of one of the opponent's legs (typically hooked at the knee or thigh, head positioned to the inside or outside) while the opponent is still standing on the other leg. Distinct from the Single Leg Takedown technique itself, which is the entry; this position covers the ongoing exchange once the leg is secured but before the takedown is finished or defended — the attacker fighting to finish (run the pipe, dump/outside trip, sweep the leg), the defender fighting to stay standing or counter (sprawl the hips back, whizzer, hop to re-establish base, or counter-attack with an ankle roll or spladle). A foundational standing-phase position in wrestling, no-gi grappling, and MMA, sitting alongside the upper-body ties (Single Underhook, Single Overhook, Over-Under) as a lower-body-focused counterpart.
